Trexity offers a few delivery speeds (“service levels”). Customers see them at checkout with friendly names; you see the same options on the dashboard and in the order panel. This article explains what each one means and when it shows up.
The names differ slightly by where you’re looking — the table below lines them up.
| What it is | Checkout name | Dashboard / panel name |
|---|---|---|
| Standard shared route | Trexity Same-Day Delivery | Same-day |
| A later day, shared route | Trexity Next-Day Delivery | Next-day |
| Dedicated, point-to-point | Trexity Express Delivery | Direct |
“Scheduled” is not a speed. It’s a status meaning a pickup time has been set. Don’t confuse it with a service level.
Same-day
The standard option: a shared courier route, delivered the same day where possible.
- Timing: arrives today by the end of your delivery window (often around 8 p.m.), or the next available day if it’s past the cutoff. On a Just-in-time location, pickup is scheduled for “now + your prep time”; on a batch location it goes out with the next pickup run.
- Price: a live quote per address, mid-range of the three.
- When it shows: whenever the address is in zone and your location has an open slot (in automatic mode).
Next-day
Same idea as same-day — a shared route — but delivered on a later day, never the same calendar day as the same-day window.
- Timing: arrives a following day by the end of your window. Pickup follows a fixed next-day window, so you don’t pick a minute inside it.
- Price: often the cheapest of the three.
- When it shows: on Just-in-time (auto-scheduling) locations. Next-day is not offered at checkout on batch locations.
- Can’t be batched. If you group orders into a route, next-day isn’t eligible — the dashboard marks it “Not batchable.”
In manual scheduling, next-day is only used for held drafts if you turn on Allow next-day delivery for held drafts. Otherwise drafts default to the cheapest same-day rate so they stay batch-eligible.
Direct
A dedicated, point-to-point delivery. Direct is the only Trexity service where the courier doesn’t share the vehicle with other orders — they go straight from your store to the customer.
- Timing: the fastest option, direct to the door today (or on a chosen day).
- Price: a live quote, usually the most expensive of the three, because it’s a dedicated trip.
- When it shows: alongside same-day when it’s meaningfully faster. If Direct wouldn’t save the customer much (roughly 30 minutes or less over same-day), it’s hidden to avoid charging more for no real benefit.
Direct is automatic for time-sensitive products
If an order contains a product tagged time-sensitive, Trexity
routes it as Direct no matter your location’s mode, and Direct
is the only option shown at checkout for that order. In the
order panel you’ll see “Direct delivery required — auto-detected
from product tag.” See
Batch vs Just-in-time for how this
interacts with batch locations.
How the service level gets chosen
- At checkout, the customer picks from the Trexity options Shopify shows (cheapest first). With manual scheduling on, these collapse into one option — Trexity Local Delivery — and you pick the real service level later on the dashboard.
- Shopify Local Delivery orders don’t show individual Trexity speeds at checkout. You set a preferred speed (Same day or Next day) in settings — see Setting up Local Delivery.
- On the dashboard, when scheduling a held draft, you choose the service level in the scheduling dialog.
Cutoffs and availability
- Same-day disappears from checkout once you’re past the day’s cutoff (roughly your close time, minus the delivery window and prep time). Your location settings show “Same-day delivery available at checkout until [time].”
- Next-day has its own cutoff; after it, the earliest pickup rolls to the following day.
- Trexity is hidden entirely when the address is out of zone, an item is over the weight limit, or a service availability rule matches.
Prices always come from a live quote per address. Rate override rules change the price a customer sees, not the service level or its name. For the full pricing picture, see How Trexity prices deliveries.
Other options you might see
Some service cities also offer a Morning delivery (arrives the next morning). It behaves like next-day — a later delivery, not batchable — and only appears where it’s available. If you don’t see it, your area doesn’t offer it.
Common questions
“Why is Direct missing on this order?” Either it’s not enough faster than same-day to be worth the extra cost, or Direct is turned off for your service area.
“Why is Next-day missing at checkout?” Next-day isn’t offered at checkout on batch locations. It’s available on Just-in-time locations and when you schedule held drafts manually.
“A batch customer sees ‘Trexity Local Delivery’ instead of ‘Same-Day’. Is that a bug?” No. On batch locations (and in manual scheduling) the standard option is branded “Trexity Local Delivery.” It’s the same same-day service under the hood.
